Websites that use energy sparingly and last a long time.
Moi! hosts websites with providers that invest in renewable energy, and builds them with efficient code and without unnecessary bloat.
That is good for the environment, and also for the speed and lifespan of your website.

Sustainability in web development
The digital sector (data centres, networks and devices) accounts for an estimated 2 to 4 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, the same order of magnitude as aviation. Every website contributes to that. Or not.
Our servers are with TransIP in the Netherlands and netcup in Austria. Both are registered as green hosting providers with the Green Web Foundation. That's the foundation. But sustainability goes beyond just the server's energy bill.
Bloated code, unnecessary scripts and heavy plugins cost energy with every page view. We build lean: only what is needed, nothing more.
A website that is already outdated after two years costs more than energy. We build on a foundation that lasts for years, with targeted updates instead of a complete rebuild.
Good for the environment. And for your website.
Green hosting and efficient code directly reduce your website's ecological footprint.
Lean code means less data per visit. That makes your website faster for visitors and better for Google.
Speed is a ranking factor. A lightweight, efficient website performs better in search engines.
Fewer plugins and dependencies mean fewer updates, fewer vulnerabilities, and less management work.
We build on a foundation that scales with you. No major rebuild after two years, but targeted expansions.
In Vienna, netcup uses green electricity from hydropower. Its parent company Anexia invests in its own hydropower plants and a solar park; the Kammern plant supplies on average about a third of the electricity for the Vienna data center. Sources: netcup on Vienna and netcup on hydropower and solar.
Sustainability is not a marketing story for us. It is built into how we work: efficient code, green servers, and websites that last for years without major rebuilds.
Sustainability starts with the choices you make when building.
We deliberately choose hosting partners that invest in renewable energy. But the real gain lies in how we build: no unnecessary dependencies, no heavy frameworks where a lightweight solution is enough, and code that remains maintainable.
The result is a website that loads quickly, uses little energy per visit, and lasts for years without major rebuilds. That is good for the environment and good for you.
Sustainability in every part of the process.

Questions about sustainability
Do your servers really run on green energy?
Our servers are with TransIP in the Netherlands and netcup in Austria. Both are registered as green hosting providers with the Green Web Foundation. In Vienna, netcup uses green electricity from hydropower, partly from plants owned by its parent company Anexia. The providers do not publish an exact percentage per data center, so we do not claim one either.
Does it really make a difference whether a website is built efficiently?
Absolutely. A page that sends 2 MB of data per visit consumes significantly more energy than a page of 400 KB. With thousands of visitors per month, that adds up. Moreover, a lighter website is also faster and better for your Google ranking.
What do you mean by 'no unnecessary plugins'?
Many websites run on WordPress with dozens of plugins, half of which are barely used. Each of those plugins loads code, slows down the website, and increases the attack surface. We only build what is needed.
How do you make sure a website lasts a long time?
By building on a solid foundation with good code, a clear structure, and documentation. That way, we can make targeted updates without rebuilding everything. It saves time, money, and energy.
Can I make my existing website more sustainable?
Sometimes yes, sometimes a rebuild is more efficient. We are happy to look at it with you. Contact us for a no-obligation conversation.
Questions about our approach?
We are happy to tell you more about how we build and why that is better for you and for the environment.
